snorkeling a local pond?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I wouldn't even worry about it. Just hop in.

I think it would be great fun!

Gators aren't really a risk if you ask me. I have snorkeled right next to em on several occasions. They couldn't care less if I existed.

"JOSH FOUND IN ALLIGATOR"

:D

I would say just have like a 1 1/2 foot long piece of broom handle just in case some thing does happen.

Well my buddy came down today from Gainesville and I talked him into snorkeling in it, I didnt get any pictures, i couldnt find my case (sorry) but it was cool, saw some bass (some were nesting, good to see, I tried not to bother them), bream, tilapia, and red ear sunfish. Water was pretty clear, as i had hoped, slightly tinted but i was pleased, water was really cold though (especially deeper). It was cool, thanks guys for backing me up.
It was neat to see where the fish were hiding, the pond had a drop off about 2 feet out and majority of fish were swimming just beside it, especially the drop off near the grass which held a lot of minnows and shiners. The bream and sunfish seem to stray more than the bass but even they preferred the drop off.

go again but take ur camera

haha, yea when it warms up ill be sure to go again and bring my camera

Ugh in my head when I hear "pond" the thing that pops into my mind is a murky weed filled body of water that might have snapping turtles or leaches and water fowl swim around using as a bathroom . That's what most "ponds" here in Michigan are like. :(
