Yes with Damsels. Yes with Coral, BUT it may knock them over they are clumbsy and active and extremely during feeding time.
Mine is already 25+" so they get fairly large. Great eel though.

How big of a tank would one need? I'm becoming more interested in Salwater for some reason, particularly Eels.
Wow, that really isnt that big of a tank for a pretty cool eel. I want to start a saltwater tank pretty soon though, I might buy a 24gallon nano complete set-up from AES. I havent kept a whole lot of FW species, but I'm really into Sharks and Eels, hopefully someday I can set-up a shark pond for some banded bamboos.

although snowflake eels are fairly peacefull. i have a saltwater book, says snowflake min tank size is a 30 gal. but i dont see that working i would say 55+.
Yeah, you could get away with mixing damsels with your moray. I've had a damsel in my 125 with my eel for 4 years now and he'll get a hold of him every once and a while, but the damsel is always too fast to get eaten.
Personally, I would say get a larger tank than a 55. These eels do create a decent amount of waste and get fairly large. Mine is just about at the 3 foot mark and at 4 1/2 years old and I couldn't imagine putting him in a 55.
One thing you want to consider...these guys very rarely come out of the rocks and swim around, so there is a good chance you will want to add something else to fill the negative space in the tank. Then you have to factor in their bio load as well and their specific conditions. Long story short...I would go with atleast a 75 gallon tank.
