Hand feed him man. They are blind as a bat but you just have to hold the food by it's tail and keep the food in the water and the fingers out of the water. He is going to grow to 3 feet long and be pretty fat, mine is 2 feet and bigger around than a quarter. You want to get an animal like that used to having your hands in the water also.
I also respectfully disagree with TheCanuck, an eel that is going to be 3 feet long should be housed in a tank longer than it will become. They like to hide but Snowflakes especially will like to come out and prowl sometimes. I have mine in a 125 Aggressive tank and I used to have a 220 with Dragon, Golden, Green and Snowflake eels and a Juvie Brown Shark which I caught in the bay (at 6 inches) and returned to the bay when he was almost 2 feet. The Dragon used to prowl too, but not as much as the Snowflake. I hand fed everything in that tank too.
The only time an animal like that will bite you is when you drop your guard and it is best to have your hands in that tank a lot and make them used to it, they will still run away and that's exactly what you want, especially if you have kids. You want to make sure an Apex Predator always knows the difference between your hand and food.
