So confused. Why is it so wrong to visit a fish warehouse?

^^ I agree ^^ This is not a public facility. It's a distribution center. You can't be critical of them for not wanting you to walk around their facility. It's simple: Dealing with the public is not part of their business model.
Thats it in a nutshell.

Wow. I had no idea about fish freedom fighters! Does that actually ever happen?

As far as pricing, it would be very silly for a random person to question the pricing of fish. Even if I worked for one store and saw that the guy across town was paying less than me for the same fish, how is that my business? The seller names the price. That's always the game. I'd have to be a whiny snob to get angry about something like that.

Again, do these attacks actually happen?

Yes, sadly it happens all the time. Being from a public facility, I'm used to watching out for people like that as soon as the front gates open. I'm also well versed on dealing with hate mail/email and the ranting phone calls I've had to answer from a guest who doesn't understand fish care and is trying to tell me I'm doing it wrong. Usually if you talk calmly and treat them as equals they'll listen to your side. Every now and then you get that single angry person who knows that we are killing fish and would rather them die quickly instead of be captive.

I've seen dish soap, powered and liquid chemicals and many other things dumped into fish exhibits to ruin them. I've seen fences cut to 'free' large predatory mammals. I've seen people try to sneak animals out to 'free' them as well. It's just part of being in the profession.

FREE THE FISH!!!!...naw just kidding.

If I seen some place that held hundreds of fish I would probably just have to ask to walk around too, even if they gave me funny looks. Id just give funny looks back...probably get myself kicked out in the process but it would still be fun haha.

Yeah, that was the gist of it. I really wanted to see the fish and didn't really care about whatever taboo I must have been committing at the time.

Maybe they have a breeding pair of coelacanths that they don't want anyone to know about.

lmao

Ive been to a fish warehouse before. I was like a kid in a candy store.

I got to look at the holding tanks at my LFS a few days ago. I had a question on microrasboras, and before you know it I'm being led behind the double doors to the back room to talk to the department manager. It was kinda awesome.

I think it just depends on the people. They might not want people to see new shipments and spoil the surprise for everyone, or see anything that's sick.
