so how many silver arowanas has everyone gone though?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
First one died due to a bad beating of an oscar that was 3" and he was 6"

and now i have 2 in my tank

I'm on my 3rd, 4th, and 5th arow right now. Loss to date??? 0 thats right zero. My number one arowana in the mid eighties jumped out of the tank twice!!! But, Thankfully, I was in the room both times. The second time he did it, I noticed a similar event that took place that ultimatly caused him to jump. So for years after that, I was carfull not to let this event re-occer. Never had a problem after that.

So what event was that?

I had 3. The last one jumped out and he's only 3 inches. The first 2 was about 12" when I sold them away.

so how many have you lost up to the current fish you have today?

mine is 0 to date

I dont mean to rub anything in at all

im just curious

Why would you assume, people loose their aros? I would assume, people would not loose Aros more then any other type of fish......I find all big fish are pretty hardy....and taking a beating, before they crap out!!

A better question, might be....

how many Aros have you had outgrow your tank, and you had to take back to LFS?:naughty:

LOL

haha well you guys are gonna love me for this. i had one in a 30 gal for about a year or so and it hit about a foot. I HAD A FOOT LONG SILVER IN A 30 WITH OTHER FISH. and that thing was the fn hartiest thing ive yet to keep. i was an idiot, much like everyone when they first start out fishkeeping. i then kept him in my 90 for a few months and at about 15in i took him too the lfs. so im on 1 and i dont intend to purchas another unless i have a 180gal plus. go on del burn me at the stake.

on my 4th......first one i dont know what happen..2nd got sick and died....3rd oscar bit his head off...

The event? Back in the 80's, I used to have my fish tank in the basement of my parents house. My bed was in the same room. When I was going to sleep for the night, I turned off the tank lights, walked over to the wall switch shut them off, climbed into bed. "SPLASH". My first arowana was real funny about it going from broad daylight to pitch black dark just like that. After the second jumping, I would always shut the tank lights off and leave the room lights on for at least 10 minutes before I'd shut them off. What can I say? My fish liked the dusk. Its good, because ever since then, I never shut any of my tank lights off leaving my fish in a pitch black room. All my fish are blessed with DUSK

currently on my second. my 1st jardini i sold it back to the lfs after it hit the 2foot mark on my 55gal and i cant upgrade coz im going back to philippines. after 2yrs i came back here and to my suprise my dad bought me a lil silver for 20$ he said. :)
