so i got a empty 4ft 100g....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hmmmm lol

Really wanna get a red fish this time tho, although I will probably end up buying whatever is available.

The Vieja Argentea (i know its not a red fish, just mean overall) are the easiest to get hold of overall, i have never seen RTM's, Red Texas, Red Terror or Flowerhorns in real life.

The stuff i'm interested in is..

RTM's
Red Texas
Flowerhorns
Red Terror (Festae) Male will get too big for your 4ft tank.

The only 1 i can get hold of is the Festae @ £40 each for 5" wild caught specimens

The only agressive stuff teh shops around here seem to have are...

Jags (my tanks not big enough) Contrary to what a couple of members have said, you are right it isnt. for a male at least, a female would probably fit.
Vieja Argentea
True Red Devil @ 6" (they wont sell it yet tho for some reason)
Dovii (my tanks not big enough)
Butterkoferi Too big for your tank
Texas (not really a fan)
Green Terror (bored of them)
Jack Dempsey (sandy, black, ebjd) (bored of them)
Cons (again bored)

I'm really after something big nasty and red, can anyone point me in the right direction in the UK?

have you considered Istlanum, http://www.tropicalfishfinder.co.uk/stores_products.asp?store=6&cat=13.

speak to www.trimar.co.uk and wildwoods http://www.tropicalfishfinder.co.uk/stores.asp. not everything they have is listed on the stock lists.

Thanks for the info mate :) yeh i was thinking i only wanted a female Festae anyway because they are prettier :)

PS I thought Buttis tend to max out at 12" :S

Need a quick answer cos I'm just about to go off out and get them, i got offered back my Juvi jag and Vieja Argentea i had before, can i keep these together long term?

Depending on size they might be butting heads before long in a 4ft tank. either way I don't think that tank will work forever with them. I think it's an ok tank for either one but not both.

depends if the jag is female. if its a male then i wouldnt even attempt it long term.

while a 4ft tank seems big, with juvie fish or no fish while its cycling, when these fish hit 8" each your 4ft tank may begin to look quite small. i would advise against two fish that can hit 12"+ in a 4ft tank.
IMO anything that hits 10"+ shouldnt be in anything less than a tank of 60x18x18", this goes against the majority here though. my 9.5" midas makes my 4ft look small, its one of the reasons i got a 5x2x2 for her and the reason for my opinion on the tank size for 10"+ fish.

good luck with whatever you get in the end and i look forward to the pics.

get one big pleco!

ha funny you should say that, i just saw a 14" Gibbi in a shop for £15, he was beautiful, i was so tempted lol.

But i didnt, be a bit of crap tank having just 1 pleco.

I put the Jag on standby because i bought 12 Rotkeil juvis 3 motnhs ago and the guy just contacted me and said hes finally sending them. (i tohught he had ripped me off)

I already have 2 x 1" Notatus and a 4" Blue Acara i can put them with so may just grow them out and start 2 breeding pairs or keep 2 Rottys, 1 Notatus and somethign else.
