So I got this new aquarium...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Depends, Are you certain it's 72" x 12" x 21", If so. Then no I wouldn't house two grown Oscars in this tank. And I wouldn't even be able to justify having 1 Grown Oscar in this tank. My 1 year old Oscar is about 10" long. He's in a 55G moving into a 150G this weekend. The footprint for the tank you have can't support a Full Grown Oscar.

However, If your tank is actually, a 72" x 18" x 21" Which is what I suspect. Then Yes you could house your Oscars in this tank.

Here is a side view of the tank its about 12.5 inches long from what I measured it.

The background is a 4 ft. 55 gallon
I just remeasured and its about 13 inches

I really like the dimensions of that tank...although definitely not for any monsters. I would personally do a discus tank with it.

I would personally love to do discus, its just that I have 2 oscars and a BGK already. Plus this tank came with 13 Red Devils

Your outfished, with not enough tanks. Make a sale thread ASAP.

Mike

BTW, Love the folding table 55G stand. That's impressive. 400 Lbs+ on an Iceberg? Folding table?

Well it's held up for a year with no trouble yet...was that sarcasm? and should I sell them here? Because I was going to sell through a lfs...i've never sold here

No, not sarcasm. Disbelief. I use those types of tables at work, and have had over 15 of them replaced under warranty because the tack weld that holds the bottom part of the leg tends to fail. The ones I use aren't the exact madel you have, I believe yours has 4 individual legs made from Straight tube. But still with the way I've seen them buckle. Wow.

Mike

PS: BUT if it is an Iceberg and it does fail. You call them and they'll ship you a new one and tell you that you have to mail the old one back. When you get the new one you'll notice their is no return label with it. When you call them to inquire about a return label they tell you to throw the old one away.

Oh lol. So what if I were to keep the 13 Red Devils in the tank, get rid of one Oscar, and the BGK, and leave one Oscar in the 50 gallon until/if he outgrows it? How long would it take the Red Devils to outgrow the 6 ft one do you think?

I won't keep an O in a 55 past 9"-10". Approx 1 year old. I think the RDs will outgrow the the Bigger tank before the O is ready for an upgrade.

Any chance they might get along? Would be a lot different if I could get them into one big tank

Also, here's the Devils.
