I would definately get an air pump for that pond man.

IF you keep it outside and it gets alot of light, more than likely you will need a UV sterilizer. If not, you are going to get green water and massive algae.

I would suggest plants but the Pacu might eat them.

Is that sand on the bottom?

+50...I did hydroponic rafts for a 6000g pacu setup a year ago...didnt get far until I moved the rafts into my settling tank bc the pacu kept eating all the roots off.

Floaters are the best plants to use...on my system I covered the pool to let little sunlight in, and then harvested lettuce and algae from the settling tank/hydro rafts to remove nutrients...I also did massive h2o changes. Pacu are pretty tough when it comes to temp swings...their max growth rate doenst even slow down till they drop below 65F...

Build yourself a little sump or something to make some styro rafts for and you can start getting garden fresh produce out of your fish.

I have an air pump not a big one tho... Can i get a link to your hydro rafts?

Dad sold me his old beckett 750 for 15 bucks woo hoo, so i have it being pumped thru my homemade filter then thru the uv then back into pool, so now there is actually three filters the uv and an air pump plus plants, is clear water in my near future?

You will have to cover all your electrical cables in hose or conduit as Pacu will chew. I have some large ones that eat glass thermometers. They are not being mean but they use their mouth like we use our fingers.

Also if possible I would direct your water flow in an off center tangent which will create a slow whirlpool. Not only will this collect most of the crap into the center but the fish will be able to swim up or down the "river" as it pleases and will be able to work out where food etc is.
