So I was thinking....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
personally i would never recommend either..... get yourself a free half grown midevil that someone got from petsmart to keep with there tetras and didnt realize till the 3rd batch of tetras that the reason they were disappearing was because the "funny looking goldfish" keeps eating them lol

I would go haitian or midas, they have both the size, personality, and beauty to match a flowerhorn but without the hybrid

Go for anything but a FH...(unless you buy all that Feng Shui BS.)

JDs, GTs, RT, Jags, Sevrums, etc etc etc..

I like JD's, but it's true they are not really owner responsive. I don't like hybrids, so I see no to the FH.
Maybe if you want a fish with personality you could buy some Amphilophus.
Midas, RD, or Trimac are very nice fish.

I agree but personally I have no problem with hybrids. I only own pure strain cichlids but I don't knock hybrid keepers as long as they are responsible when it comes to introducing the fry to the public. But back to the point at hand, if you like the look of a FH why not go for the awesome cichlid that some people mistake it for? Get a Trimac and you'll be happy. I've never owned one but based on what I've read on this site by the people that do own this magnificent looking cichlid, they are personable and active. One day I will have a tank dedicated to a Trimac too.

If you want the FH go for it. I would pass on the JD but thats just me. Make sure you're getting a FH that isn't Low grade otherwise you just won't be happy with it. I just finished stocking a 90 and went with a pair P. Polleni and I must say I love these guys. The little male is only a couple inches but already is starting to form a tiny hump and seems to be compatible with the female and they look really good with the sand that I used for substrate. Good luck and get what you want for this tank. Asking for alot of suggestions when you really already know what you want just makes the decission even more difficult
