Sorry for the lost, Id think its the water from the tap. Its spring time, they will add a large concentration of cholrine to the water and the ammonia is also quite high too
Thanks, It's not the tap water as I wouldn't see the improving numbers now or after a water change... not to mention it wouldn't account for the numbers being on the rise like they were or for the fact that I don't have the problem in any of my other 11 tanks.

All my tap water is condidioned before adding and I do semi regular testing to get my baseline numbers from the city water. I've not had any problems thus far... I'm still betting on the conditioner that I was given. Only explination.

So sorry for your loss.
Is this the "only" tank that you used said "conditioner" in?
How are the remaining tankmates fairing?

I just hate it when we cannot figure out what happened!

That conditioner was only used on THAT tank as it was the only one handy when I was preparing the water for the water change, Since I seemed to have the water params under control now they are all doing well... colors have come up nice and dark on the Cats and the Convicts that are in there with them have never missed a beat. one of the Other TSN's had some whisker wilting happening but that seems to have stopped since I've caught up on the Amonia levels... which were fine when the TSN died BTW... this started within 12 hours after that happened. it's the biggest mystery I've ever had in a tank thus far...
