So my 2 bichirs died

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Another one that I've heard of happening before is that there was so much movement the bichirs became very stressed and in extreme cases died. I look at your stock and see (other than polypterus) a couple of SD and clown loaches. I've never owned a clown loach, but from I've read and seen they like to move a lot. Especially in a small size tank all the fish could have just been very stressed from movement.

They do love to move a lot ..I didn't though about this one

I'd throw an HOB on there too, also that stocking seemed pretty dense for a 10 gallon, when I grew a bichir in a ten it was just him and a leopard ctenopoma in the tank. Could have been an ammonia spike or nitrate buildup, how long has the tank been running? What are your water parameters?

You should get that HOB and start running it on your ten then by the time you have your 30 ga up you can put a bacterially seeded filter right on it, that way you only have to wait a week or so for the cycle instead of months
