So sad at the lfs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I don't see a price tag on the tank. I don't normally see name tags for fish unless they are a display piece.

I know it is against the law but in most cases it would be a far better outcome for the turtles if they were released in their natural habitat.

Just wondering but do you know for certain that the turtle was handed over for free?....There is a shop here that gets large ones like that throughout the summer.I know because local kids catch them at various creeks and bring them to the store to be sold..same goes for the hapless baby RES,they all are bought by people who have no clue about proper care. The last ones I saw there were priced at one hundred dollars each but knowing those people I'm sure the price was not firm.
I know as much as you do. Just had a hunch he was donated

My lfs gets stuff like that all the time and sometimes they don't have an open large tank and have to do what they have to do.. Last week a 8 ft red tail boa was dumped off at the door in the morning now there kind of stuck with it it's nasty wants to kill everything lol

Sad. That 30 y/o is the size of my 3 y/o.
I think it's just as sad there's no padlock on the enclosure. People are just going to NOT open the tank because it says so? The owner clearly doesn't know humans very well.

Where I was trying to get at was the lfs did nothing wrong and is not treating the turtle wrong.

Sorry Bro, that is just as bad as having venomous snakes for sale without locked cages. Liability waiting to happen. If I was the owner, the tank size would be the least of my worries until I got a lock on that thing.

That store better pray PFBC doesn't catch them buying/selling PA Native species. Those aren't Alligator Snappers those kids are catching and bringing in to a LFS in Philly. :(

They should just put it in a natural pond somewhere.
Releasing Alligator Snappers into the wild, not knowing where the LFS even is located........there are sooooo many things wrong with that statement. They aren't even native anywhere NEAR PA, nor could they survive the winter.....plus the amount of harm they could inflict on humans or other native animals unaware of their presence....
