anyone know what makes a rosequeen? i know if you buy them large there already purple or pink in color but stores sell them small and there grey. has anyone ever raised one of the small grey ones to see if it indeed does color up? thanks

They will peel out...
As far as I know, they have midas/red devil in them. I'm not much of a big fan with rose queen.

rose queen to me is like no rose queen. I dont see myself ever keeping one. Rose queens are poops of the red monkey kamfas.

Rose Queen is a name somebody made up when they X their midas with something idk, and everyone went along. They aint real FHs.. Whatever they are, i'd rather have a midas.

never seen anyone bring out a fish called rosequeen with a kok or nice fins or anything. Whats the point of A rosequeen? piss u off with its nothingness thats wat

Just to get something straight here.
First of all, rose queen was never classified as a FH.
Second of all, a RM, SRS, RS, and RBK is totally different from a rose queen no matter how alike they look.
Third of all, they are created differently.

Yes, I agree with big one.
Rose queen's are a relatively desirable fish. My buddy has a 14" male that has a 100gal to himself because he is straight evil. When he got it it was dark grey and now its a lovely pinkish orange. I wish I had the room for 1 actually.
Close relative of a flowerhorn, but not the same classification. If im not mistaken they are created from linebreeding Midas x Synspila.

so basically nobody really knows what the mix is? whoever said its a x between a red devil and midas well thats obviously false. i crossed the trimac and red bay snook and now it seems that the trimac x snook may be possibly showing mating habbits with the rosequeen which would put alot more red in its body. i know most male rosequeens are sterile but the female are not and thats what im looking at is the rosequeen is female and the tri snook is male but he could very well be infertile. not sure yet

It's a mix between synspilum and labiatus. I have a 9-10" female rose queen that I raised from 1" and it's one of my favorite fish. Amazing color, big nuchal hump, yellow eyes, and great personality. They look just like synspilums until 3-4" then they start looking amphilophus and peel into their true color. Anybody talking crap about the strain is just an IDIOT that knows nothing about the hobby.

:iagree:

It's a matter of taste. One person likes seeing big nasty head tumors on a fish and another doesn't. No need to get heated about it, right?

Rose Queens seem like a decent hybrid to me. I don't like them personally, but if someone pushed one on me, I know I'd get attached pretty quickly. They remind me of Oscars in a way...

Clear something up a bit for me here. Are you saying that a Rose Queen doesn't consist any Red Devil or Midas? So what does that have anything to do with a Trimac X Snook trying to pair up with a Rose Queen? It doesn't prove anything about a Rose Queen not being mix consisting a Red Devil/Midas.
If you did find something that is actually legitimate facts that it doesn't contain any Red Devil/Midas. Please educate me as I would like to know about Rose Queen.
FYI - if a female Rose Queen is fertile, male Rose Queen can very much be fertile. Now you wonder why it isn't the same as BP? Well...BP basically have non to very little quality to it, so breeders sterile the male in order to avoid breeding. In return, they get more customers instead of fish hobbyist would just be breeding them.
