So What really is the Minimum tank size for an Oscar?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
like i said in the post, he fit in the 75 just fine, but I consider it rescuing as the guy was going through a split and the o would have been downsized into another tank, or given to someone who might not have given it proper care..... but then again, I'm with the crowd that believes bigger is always better (when it comes to aquariums).

I think a 75 is perfectly fine for a single "O" for life but 90 is better only because they are messy and the more water volume the better.

Agree with everyone that 75 is fine for a single oscar, but a 6' tank will make it feel much more at home. :)

Then split the difference and put them in a five foot tank.

Maybe a 75 isn't the best size for an oscar but it's certainly sufficient. Bigger is always better but let's be practical. Not everyone has the space or the money to put one fish in a 180 gallon tank.
