in one of my past threads people began to say that the grammode or "mini dovii" (i know its not a dovii cuz its not a parachromis genus fish) it kind of peaked my interest becasue its a bad a** looking fish. what is it like owning this fish or if youve never owned one what are some things you have heard. is it personable, how aggressive can it be. is the reason why they call it "mini dovii" because it acts like one? someone shed some light

A good quality Grammodes can really shine and take your breath away at their peak showing off. I've Not seen any other great ones since the one I had in 2006.

But they look dog face ugly just like the dovii face

Nice fish to keep. They aren't known for being personable and are usually more skittish than most. They can be absolutely beautiful but extremely aggressive and very predatory. They stay pretty small (10" and under for most you'll ever see) and grow slowly. Not a very good community fish IMO and more of a solo/pair fish. I has a nice 6" male for a while that was nice and fun to keep. Will probably do them again someday but as a pair.

theyre cool but if theyre really that skittish i wudent be interested skittish fish annoy me. im just tryna find a species that can match a good green terror so im searching , green terrors are soo intereactive, im raising my first gt since my last one when i was 12 and i never took care of that fish cuz i didnt know how and he was still outgoing and a stunner too

I have 3 keep them in my 180 as dithers

I started with half dozen grammode juvies from an ACA auction, the alpha male killed 4 and paired up with the female at about 4". They spawned few times and then he killed her. They/he would not allow any other fish in the tank, yet as others have said he was very skittish and the slightest shadow or noise could send hm into hiding. I auctioned him off last year, and he was put in a 1000 gal cichlid community where I've heard, has now been rehabilitated from his murderous ways.
Must be the space.
