Make sure the water is prestine and have a dark substrate...if he doesnt color up with an all black substrate you got duped bro

Its pretty likley that one of the parents was a standard JD and the other an ebjd some come out a lot brighter than others somewhere inbetween the two , looks like what you've got there , plenty of quality foods he'll still be a great colourful fish
