some advice for getting stung by your catfish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the slime of a catfish helps heal wounds inflicted on the catfish since it does not have scales. i read this too but what i read went into more detail. it said that scientists are using it as medicine and are also experimenting with it on aids and cancer cells. (actually i saw this in a movie i watched for science class last year) anyways it'd be kinda cool to look in ur tank and ur staring at the cure for cancer.

Interesting. I hope I don't get stung, but if I do...But it would make a great scar!

Got stuck by one of my Picus cat while taking him out of My Jags mouth.
Went all the way thru the skin between my index and middle finger, I wish I knew this before! Those barbs are sharp and don't back out easy, I cut the barb and pulled it out the top (less pain?) He lived and he grew another one of course.
Jag no longer wants to eat him!

lol...you know how they always tell you to put meat tenderizer
on jellyfish stings? this is because it contains papayin,an enzyme derived from papayas that breaks down the poison. In south america, and everywhere else tropical where the phrase, "meat tenderizer" just draws blank looks, they have another solution.... just put a fricken papaya on it! I have been stung several times, and this really works, better than any meat tenderizer, ketchup, Mrs. Dash, chocolate sprinkles, or any other processed kitchen supply. I highly recommend keeping a papaya int he freezer if you keep jellyfish at your house.

I bet bromelain would do the same, Pineapple enzyme.

It helps, for coral and jelly stings pee on them. You can pee on catfish stings too but it won't help.
lol....how about rubbing the jellyfish's belly on your hand
