Some bad news! Need help

So I went to a petsmart today to look at some fish and maybe reptiles. And they had a corn snake and I was talking about them with my dad so I asked if I can see him to show him, well the guy thought we where getting a snake so starts talking about all these kinds of snakes right? Then I mention how I want to get a Pygmy and piebald chameleon for Christmas, and he starts to just go off about how bad they are as pets, to say the least my dad won’t let me get one now. So please some suggestions for what I can get, and what tank. The bigger the better but the max I can go is 75 gallons. I also like exotic things.

Sorry to hear about that. What size reptile were you thinking? The first thing I would try is to see if you can bring your dad back on your side. If you can compile enough evidence as to why the chameleons are good pets you may still be able to get one.
Otherwise, what about some of the larger anoles like Cubans or Jamaican giants. They are upwards of 1 foot, so like an in between iguana and anole.
I’m also partial to giant day geckos, basically a larger, more colorful, diurnal crestie.

It is a bummer, I also forgot to add I can’t get a snake. I’ve had anoles before but didn’t really like them. I’d like something like 6-10 inches that I can handle.
 
Also he made a good point about the humidity, my room can go from really hot to really cold FAST. Because my room is in the basement
 
Ah. Giant days are probably out then too. I’ve seen some that are tame, but mine is a psycho escape artist. Only really calmed down over the summer, but still skittish. Regardless, they are very hardy, very beautiful, and very cute. Eat the same food as cresteds too, so it makes it a bit easier to take care of.3E2EE81C-04EB-4C47-9DC0-CFA38BCC3794.jpeg

Don't get a bearded dragon. Humidity bothers them. Heat is far easier to regulate. Also kinda boring.
 
Personally I'd agree that even tho chameleons are some the coolest reptiles, they don't however make great pets. Humidity regulation is a must for 1 and for 2 they generally do not like being handled. If they are being touched they are not hidden, if they are not hidden they are not safe, thus is the logic of a chameleon. Granted sometimes you may find a chameleon that doesn't mind it but generally they were hand raised from birth not just bought as a juvinile.

Personally I would like to recommend an Emerald Swift. They have about the same outward appearance of a bearded dragon but are a bright vibrant green with a sapphire blue beard. They are also only about half the size of a beardie and thus require less space. Not entirely sure on their handlablility but they would be a very neat lil lizard that not many others can say they have.
