how did you manage to bring live fish from Hong Kong to the US?

what kind of paper work or process did you have to go through?
that was at least 6 yrs ago so things might have changed now.
but back then all i did was call up the US fish and wildlife people and requested some info from them. basically since bichirs aren't endangered or restricted in any way, they told me theres no paperwork involved. they told me i just needed to declare them to the Customs, and thats all i did.

there might have been a max number of fish before its considered commercial (which most likely have different rules) but i wasn't too concerned since there were only so many coolers i could fit in carry-on baggages lol

i actually brought fish back with me couple times. once the customs/USFW opened up the luggage and checked the fish. and it took FOREVER cause they couldn't figure out what they are. they eventually brought out the Atlas they were using and i had to show them where they could find the fish in the book lol and then for a couple times the Customs didn't even check and just let me thru but i wouldn't bank on that to happen.

and thanks all for the comments!!

awesome collection, are they all in the same tank? if so how did you manage to keep them there without aggression? what is the tank dimensions?

Awesome pics! Is that one green?

thanks!

they are in several different tanks but in each tank i do have a group of them. luckily i don't have aggression issue. Have you seen CDM's tank? he also has a group of bichirs without aggression, and he made an observation that i also agree. that is in general chances of aggression decreases as the number of bichirs in the group increases. and once you have a large enough group, there will essentially be zero aggression, provided you are lucky enough and don't end up with a super-aggressive psycho maniac individual.

michael: yes that bichir does have a lot of green on it, and the green become very noticeable when viewed from the right angle under direct light.

whats the plants? I have 2 amazon swords and would like 2 or more of another.

thanks! i'll see if i have some pics of the ornate

those are java ferns. im terrible at keeping plants alive lol hence i only have java fern and some java moss in another tank.
