I have a question on your setup.
How far is your lens from your subject?

using your focal length and yet achieving that bokeh in the background, can I deduce it to be about a metre away? And the pictures are cropped?

......But I’m not sure is it the Canon 100mm macro is better than 50mm… /quote]

Well, if you let me make a little note about this matter, Aquasaur, I think these two lens are pretty different depending of what you want using them. Canon 100mm macro have a very small angle of view and it's more proper for really MACRO photography especially for insects or other small objects.
As I told you many times before I think Canon 60mm macro will be the best solution for you.

Hi, Tony, my friend!
May be you’re right about the Canon 100mm macro lens…
icon_rolleyes.gif

But “as I told you many times before” – will exchange my precious 50 mm macro for any different,
only if I can testing and see the priority of it over mine…

Or may be, after you will show me some shots with 60 mm of same fishes, more good than mine…

Hey, buddy, better come to me to discuss it with glass of beer…

Valice, my technical English is not so good and I’m not sure that understand your question…?
Shooting with my Canon compact-macro lens EF 50 mm/f2.5, I try to catch the closer distant, what that lens available…may be 10 cm.
Sorry, but I have no much time to do precise Photoshop editing of all my pictures
and usually had chose the easy way – just darkening and blurring the background…
More of the photos are not cropped at all !

Ok, the next is - Nothobranchius Guentheri "Zanzibar",
Almost similar to this before, but after a few of my macro shots,
hope you will see the difference and his individual beauty and charm…

Those variety of Nothobranchius had turn out the “Big Warriors” in this Killies tank of mine…

That "Bad Boy Blue" - Nothobranchius Guentheri Blue was also a gift to me.
He is not so photogenic like other upper ones, but is interesting and rare variety.

It looks great on the photo. The less colorful fish, the more challanging photography skill.

Thanks, Yuchia, you are absolutely right about that kind of challanging...

In the spirit of the coming Christmas, I wanna share with you some photos of those guy, dressed like a “Killies Santa Claus”…
