Some Like It Hot

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Awesome snakes! I do like hots and a few belong to my favourite snakes, but I wouldn't dare to keep them myself. Just looking is fine here :D

Thanks! Rattlesnakes are definitely some of my favorites as well!

Be patient, man! I want to get the little ones in a somewhat decent-looking enclosure first.

Ok :(

Kanburi Pitviper's Enclosure

I need to swap out the light bulb in there for a daylight-type bulb like what I have on the massasauga's enclosure. I also plan on replacing the fake ferns & the branches with different ones once I find a little more detailed information on the plants that grow in the part of Thailand that these snakes are native.

And here's some quick pictures of the newest additions:

Prairie Rattlesnake (Crotalus v. viridis). Male. ~36" long. CBB.

This guy seems to be pretty calm for a prairie rattlesnake, but I don't want to jinx it considering how the typical prairie rattlesnake behaves. He's being brumated for the time being.

Southern Copperheads (Agkistrodon c. contortrix). Unsexed. ~12" long. CBB.

The copperheads might be intergrades with northern copperheads (A. c. mokasen), but I'm not 100% sure on that as I was told that they were purchased as southern copperheads. I'm keeping these two warm for the winter as the larger one appears to have a stuck eyecap or just a messed up one; I'm hoping that it will shed out as I wasn't able to remove it myself.

Of the three, I only intend on retaining the smallest copperhead. The rattlesnake should be going to someone who keeps bugging me for pictures, and the larger copperhead may go to someone that expressed interest in learning about keeping hots once he is ready for his first hot (once I get the eye situation solved, of course).

What a handsome rattler.

Wow MFK is dead...
