Damn, I would have been livid... And said quite a few questionable things to the seller before leaving. 
ouch! I had a guy tell me he had a 30 gallon set up for 20 bucks. Thought that would be worth a 2 hour drive . When i got there turned out it was a 10 gallon. luckly it had an extremely active 6" poly. bichir in it. Very cool fish

Oh well, there will be others. And to think that I was so nervous someone else would come buy it out from under me... haha.
Been there, done that, man. Went to look at a 250 setup for $800. The first thing I can see when I get there is the side. All the 250's I've seen (which isn't many, but still) were 30" wide, this one was obviously only 2'. Turned out to be a 200-210. Proabably should have bought it anyway, because I then did what you did and drove nearly 4 hours for a 220 that I talked him down to $400 for the setup minus stand. This was measured with pics. Guaranteed no scratches or other problems. So I get up there and he has it drained, dim room of course, ready to go. Get it home and set up.......it has scratches on the inside, as well as stains on the outside from water running over the top that do this day I still can't get rid of. Then once it's full and stocked, I realize that the glass is bowed out over 1/8". Get to looking to find one of the two plastic support braces broken. The real kicker is there was some crappy excuse for glue inside the break, so this guy fed me crap from the first call. And of course, he was moving, which is why he was selling, so I couldn't call or go visit him to rip him a new ass. CL will rape you if it's not local. I've given up on it.
