I am new here and joined just to get some help with my dilemma. I inherited a 30 gal aquarium with a large Pacu in it. I know the tank is too small and dont know what to do with the pacu. I want to make the fish healthy and happy and know this is the wrong environment. Someone please give me advice on what to do with this fish to get him in the appropriate environment.

I dont necessarily have to own him for the rest of his life. I just want him to be able to have a life. Would a pond do, not a garden, decorative, fish pond, but a big, big pond, say that.......cows drink from?

yes that would do ..rubbermaid watering trough..but it would need filtration and heat also... how big is this pacu ..i cannot amagine a big pacu in a 30gal..if you cannot get him something soon i would say to put him up for adoption or maybe LFS would take him..that is a sad situation.. good luck

N e thing will work that holds a large volume of water that isn't harmful to the aquatic world.....

okay then, a large livestock pond it will be if he can live there. It would have no heat or filtration other than nature. Currently, catfish and Bream are living there with turtles and whatever else lives in a pond. I dont know what else to do. I dont want to delay his happiness but dont want to "throw him to the wolves" and face a certain death either. If you experts think he can live in a pond, I will put him there.

I think she means pond as in acerage sized pond.

um 1st where do you live?temperate cali/florida/south america is ok to do this, But if it is a natural pond then DO NOT REALEASE It into the wild invioroment as it could be a very bad move,,,is there not a aquarium near you or a lfs?
try advertising it on here for free and see what happens
