No not literally, but it sounded like it. So there I was relaxing in bed for a moment right after I had just gotten home from work. Th wife and kids walk in about 10mins after me. The all of a sudden it sounded like a .22 went off in the living room. My initial thought, one of the kids must have dropped the broomstick in the floor. Then I hear my fish calling my name followed by the fish the fish, and I could tell by the pitch in her voice that something happened. Second thought, one of discus jumped out. No that hasn't happened before, but it has happened with a 12" oscar two years ago. So I get out of bed and as I walk towards the fish tank I notice a very steady stream of water coming out form the left side and the tank draining pretty good. At first glance I couldn't believe it, it was almost like I went into mini shock mode. I must have stood there for 10 secs before it registered. The it clicked, "hey dumbass do something" is what I could hear in my head. So told my wife to grab all the towels we had and grabbed my bucket with all my w/c items form under the tank. I had my son fill up two 5G buckets with water from the stream of water and started to net fish to transfer them to the bucket. After I took all my fish out I threw in my water pump and started to pump the tank water into my aging barrel. Which lucky for my is right by the fish tank. As the water receded the stream of water form the crack started to dwindle. In the meantime of all this my wife is making a damn of towels to keep the water from reaching the carpet. After about 20 mins of ringing out towels and for me to empty the tank of water. I dropped in a aerator in each of the buckets and hit craigslist to look for another tank. Now the one that just cracked was a 100G tall, so I knew I needed something similar in size and height for my discus. I live in a fairly small town and the best thing I could find was over an hour away. It was about 6ish when this whole ordeal started and I know if I drove an hour away it wouldnt be till about 10ish before I was completely done. In the back of my mind was the thought, there was a 72G bowfront at petsmart........So I bit the bullet and reluctantly drove to petsmart and bought it, blah. This is a first when it comes to a cracked tank..............
Here's a pic of the before..................

Wow man, that sucks to hear! It is awesome that you were able to save your fish and get a new tank up and running.

Btw... That bowfront setup looks great!:)

Maan nice save, good thing you got up after you herd that noise.
