Thats scary... How rare is it that tanks do this? I just set up my 75g tank last week. That would be my worst fear if the tank cracked and the water went everywhere..

Whoa that's is a scary. Luckily u were home to save the night. Curve glass always make me nervous.

Hello; Noticed that the tank was near two windows. Not sure where Killeen is but if you are in the area where there has been very high temperatures, perhaps this had something to do with it? I know that when my area had several 100+ degree days that surfaces would get very warm to the touch. This would be more so near a window. Maybe a big enough thermal change if the AC was turned a few degrees cooler or just kicked on with the return of you and the family? Even so there may have been some sort of flaw in the glass.
Any way , sorry to hear of the troubles.

This happened to me. Long long time ago I had a baby tortoise in a 20gal. It had a heating pad underneath. The inside of the tank was about 30 degrees cooler than the pad. HUGE thermal change. So one night I took everything out to clean with baking soda and wet towels. As soon as the towel water hit the glass a thermal chain reaction started and BAM! I thought somebody was breaking into our house! It was so loud I had to go to the doctor the next day and he said I had partial hearing loss in 1 ear. Luckily partial was only like 20% hearing loss. But thank god it was a terrarium!!!!!!!!!!!

On the other hand I had my 100gal tank leak when we had 31 people coming over in 15 minutes!!!!!!! You shoulda seen me I was like @#$%&@$%&#!!!! THANK GOD the leak was at the top so I just lowered the water a bit and fixed it the next day! Just a bad silicone job on the top bracing no biggie. :)

Considering the sounds and splashing my monsters make i am terrified of cracks. Luckily you had the funds to just run out and buy a new tank i would be stuck splitting up my stock into two 55gs till i can replace the tank. New tanks looks great good thing with discus of all things you had no problems.

Hello; I have had two tanks break without warning. One was a 125 that cracked but was in a basement so no damage other than the loss of the tank. The other was a 55 that had a corner seam let go while I was away. This was the last time I had a tank on carpet.

I never trust those imported tanks. The Oceanic tanks have a five year warranty. They would have given you a new and at the same time you can claim their insurance for damaging your floor with the water from the faulty tank.

Been awhile since I've heard of Jebo tanks cracking, figured they all made their way through the system and got tossed out already.

Locally these were all over the place and it was almost every other week there was a thread like this.
