I want to buy an Alienware desktop...I am looking at the four different ones they have, and need to know which base model to go for. Basically, I want a kick-ass comp, that won't get outdated for quite some time, plus I can play some games/surf the internet/multi-task LIKE CRAZY on....

Which model should I start with? And what are the benefits?

Aurora
Area-51 750i
Area-51 X58
ALX X58

Just out of curiosity, why are you choosing alienware. I have a $500 cheepo acer aspire 5735-4774 and love it. With a 16:9 widescreen, it is great for surfing the net and watching movies...

Good choice of company. My main goal was to get the most time our of my computer as possible when I bought my last one. So, without further ado, I bought an Area-51 in 2003 and have only added a stick of memory in that whole time. I'm using it right now. I bought it about a year before I got married and that was in June 2004. Also I don't foresee having to replace it for awhile. Best damn computer I've ever owned (pc-wise)

I am kind of a computer geek but if you want to save money definitely go to www.cyberpowerpc.com there you can customize to create super-crazy computers. They have good customer service and the computers are well built. Customize it right and you'll have a computer that will last quite a while. Please do not get me wrong; Alienware is really good but its relatively expensive and really just a brand name when you customize your own "super" computer. If you realllly do want Alienware I can provide some information deciding.
