Don't waste your time buying from companies. Build your own man.
It will do exactly what you want it to do for a fraction of the cost.

I don't know enough about what is good to do that though...I know it will save me money, but I <3 the way the Alienwares look

YOu can choose any case you want.. go to www.newegg.com

and if you need advice, I can help you set up a smoking fast rig with gobs of power.

Truly you can build a homebuilt for much less money that stomps the piss out of the latest alienware.

If your not going to be gaming all the time don't spend the extra money on aw, they are great computers but you could get a great one for what you're going to use it for, for half the cost :D

Also a tip, do not get the "very latest" components(video cards mostly) because for half the price or less you can have somethings that is slightly less powerful, the truth is that theyll probably come out with a new card every month

you can get a comp custom to your spec for about half the price of a similar alienware comp, at least in the uk.
with them its all about the name they stick on the box. any games that are out now and due out arent taking full advantage of the dual/quad cores out there and the graphics capability of top end cards. i would get a half decent dual core and have at least 4GB RAM, big HDD and a 512MB dedicated GFX card (GeForce series 8).
save yourself some bucks and load up with RAM and even a low end series 8 GeForce will give you a pc worthy of any game. thats what will make the pc fast having loads of ram and a dedicated GFX card.

anything like core2quad extreme and amd phenoms are wasted at the moment. and i reckon its gonna be at least another year before we start seeing improvements in software that will push multiple core tech to its potential.

save half your money and use it for something else. like Neo says in 6 months it will be an ok machine insted of the beast you bought.

Yea....I guess you guys are right.

So, if I have like 1k to 3k to blow on a kickass comp, that I won't really have to upgrade for years and years to come, how would you (or anyone else) build it? What would you use for CPU, GFX card, how much ram, etc...
