Something I dont understand....Wearing uniforms in public

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
^Kinda jibes with why they are called B.D.U......BATTLE dress uniform.

I've always found it kinda pathatic. I recently saw two guys at the bar wearing military outfits with shaved heads. I noticed neither of them even had a rank. kind of odd to wear out but i guess girls will fall for that

No idea on this one.. they should only be in dress military uniforms.. unless they are a recruiter or just came off duty... but then without a base near by this probably would not be the case.. so yes.. that is interesting as to why you see them..

Could be just returning from active duty.

Quite a few are on leave from across the pond right now.

I know a bunch of them just filtered through Ft Bragg for a week of leave at their home states.

i've always wondered too. makes me want to pick a fight with them in bars.

Why? Pretty low of you.

Im surrounded by military bases, my house is literally shaking right now from the AC-130s practicing behind my house at Eglin Air Force Base. I see people in uniforms and flight suits all the time. They are regular people like you and me and after work they have to pick up their kids, get groceries or stop and buy pet food too.

Yes we are regular people like everyone else. When I was in the airforce, we had to book out of camp in our uniforms. And after work before going home we had to do you know..stuff. I'd get mistaken for the mall security guard pretty often.:grinno: We have rules on conduct while wearing uniforms in public, even on overseas detachments. eg. No drinking, smoking, whoring, etc.

I was always told by my Marine buddy that wearing your utilities in public was frowned upon and trashy. He always said, "If you are going to represent the military wear your dress blues... end of story. No self respecting serviceman would wear his utilities in public."

Good question. I've often wondered this myself after hearing the above statement.

That's because Marines get in trouble if they're caught off base in their BDU's.
