Something is seriously wrong here...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well she might have looked great when I went to bed but when I woke up, she'd sunk. Ended up losing her - If I'd stayed up and continued with the ice treatments to calm her down it probably would have helped but I just couldn't stay awake any longer.

:(

The other two new angels are doing awesome and none of the old ones seem to have any of her symptoms. I think the rest will be fine.

I wish I had got back to this thread sooner but it was probably to late anyway, I doubt it was EMS, the rupturing lesion followed by a gaping wound is classic for furunculus caused by Aeromonas salmonioida bacteria. Fortunatly it is not easily spread except by direct contact, salt in the water lessens the chance of other fish catching it. Treatment once the lesion ruptures is swabbving the wound with hydrogen peroxide and treating with antibiotic food and treating the water with something like Neoplex, Kanaplex, or Binox.
Changing the water temp. is not required.
Fish with large or badly placed lesions seldom survive.

Thank you... I really appreciate that. She is gone now, but now I'll know what to do if my prize angel ever comes across with it.

On a side note, the angels I received from Walmart (oh I was crazy... what was I thinking?) are splitting 50/50 - the blue blusher is healthy as a horse and doing awesome. The half black hasn't eaten since I brought it home and probably won't make it thru today. But, seeing as how I was crazy and got them from WALMART, one fish surviving is a miracle
