If he's constipated, then I would separate him and add some epsom salt in the water, epsom salt will helps with constipation.

Parasite is our of the question IMO, he's been in captivity for too long.

My xingu acted similar just before it passed a hook. It could be some sort of blockage.
Ahhhh that that seems like a good possabilaty could definatly cause some discomfort:eek:

i would prob treat w prazi and see wht happens. it cant hurt anything

in the vid did it look like he was coughing?

Either coughing or just jerking around.
I may praziquantel but not sure.
I feel like either he's choking or having a hard time passing something.
He calms down and acts fine a few min later. He acts VERY interested in food and will eat a little bit

Find a scope locally tomorrow if you can, 100X is more than plenty (Mine goes up to 250X and I hardly have to go past 100X).

Get a sample of his poop and put it under a scope, rather than treating blindly....more meds can actually stress a fish out.

I am still in disbelief on a lot of folks here still don't have a scope as part of fishkeeping tools.

I bought mine online for $ 150 years ago. Next to my drip injector, it's the next best thing to the hobby..

i was just thinking if its some type of gill fluke thats making her cough to try and dislodge it...

dont think a gill parasite will show up in a stool sample, will it?
