What is pricey in your area? I can't find them in stores here but will be looking at wholesalers online soon.

That botia is enormous. What is the temperament like at that size?
Don’t see the red lizards often but a pet shop in Leeds has a decent number in currently at £16 a fish. I know freight charges have gone through the roof but that seemed high.

I have four red tailed blue (y. Modesta) still just 7” and it’s easy to spot the dominant female just from size. They pretty much keep their “playfulness” within the four of them. Don’t bother the clowns or other fish. Not like the six Y.Eos which are real boisterous both within their group and with other fish too, nipping and constantly clicking. Never seen them try anything with the modesta though. Bought them real small as couldn’t get modesta at the time. Would have much preferred more modesta as they seem as laid back as the clown loach. 2” modesta @ £4 a fish, 2” clown loach @ £10 a fish, same temperament and in my view just as pretty.

This guy here was my banded tiger botia loach that I had a year ago but ended up rehoming him. He was a mistake purchase, he was mislabeled as a zebra loach at the LFS. Tried to feed him to my predator tank after he killed my breeding pair of farowella cats the day after I got them but he was just too fast and smart so he just became a part of the predator tank in the end untill it sprung a leak. Still love the color and pattern tho lol.

One of my more courageous black kuhli loaches, on the right. Pay no attention to the photobombing clown loach lol.

At one time I tried to have 5 yoyos together. Unfortunately, the day after bringing home what would have been the largest in the group jumped. Most were rescues as most people buy in ignorance of how aggressive they can be.Yo-yo Loach.jpg
Single candy stripe that would hide behind the rocks on the right side. I thought it had died because it disappeared for months.

These were all rehomed as I finally got tired of all the aggression. I still have a single khoolie loach though.

About the only photos I can get of the eos are whilst moving them.
I can sort of get photos of the yoyo (reticulated)

Yet to come across a truly “aggressive” loach although the eos are really close, but I only keep loaches in groups in larger tanks and with lots of hideouts and what I would consider “suitable tank mates”.

I found my eos to be mean initially, but after settling in they kind of just kept to themselves. They are mean to the skunk loach though. Lots of clicking…like having a pistol shrimp in there.
