Something is wrong with the smaller of my two Florida gar. This fish has been fine for a long time in this tank, and seemed to be fine when I fed everyone pellets yesterday evening (at least I didn't notice anything amiss).

I just did a water change on their tank, and as I was filling, I noticed that the smaller Florida was acting very strange. It just kind of floats at the surface, shivering/quivering. It can swim, although not very well, and kind of lists a little to one side or the other. Mostly its getting pushed around by the current whenever it strays out of a calm spot. As you'll see in the video I'm uploading to youtube at the moment, it didn't even react when I picked it completely out of the water.

I'm guessing either some kind of virus, or maybe a neurological disorder??

Well, now he's settled down to the bottom of the tank and is looking worse. He isn't trembling like before, but he seems to be more gasping periodically. I don't think he's going to last much longer...

Just a minute or two left loading. I manually lifted him up to the surface, and he gasped air a couple of times. He's now floating at the surface again, but still seems to have very little coordination or ability to turn...

Alright, I've got him in a styrofoam container with just enough water to cover his back. He can get air when he needs just by lifting his head. He's laying upright (which he wasn't doing when I grabbed him out of the tank). His color also is looking better in the styrofoam container than it was in the tank.

I'll update any changes. I know the video sucks, but any idea's yet?

What De-clor did you use when doing the water change?

Just saw this. I used Prime, like I do with every water change. Nothing different from the last one, other than its about 2 days past my usual water change day. We had a crazy weekend moving a lot of stuff between houses, so the water change got pushed back til tonight.
