Is there any chance this could have been caused by the water change itself. Meaning a difference in temperature with the new water being poured in. I'm not saying it's the case, but maybe there was a big drop or spike if the temperature was off and caused a sudden shock in the Gar. Did you make sure the water temp. was about the same?
