Something wrong with my tem's tail

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What are the water parameters? Does it look the same when you view it from the other side of the tail? Odd that the issue is almost perfect circle. Does it look like open wound at all? I tried zooming in the pic and I can't figure out how exactly it looks.

today its worst. The wound seems to move toward the back of the tail. On the other side of the tail it is all reddened but looks almost fine. But the odd part is that he still has a great appetite. Should i begin to add meds now? The water parameters are all good nothing peaked. If it was water parameters wouldnt all the fish be affected?

If it has gotten worse i would think you should .Can you seperate him from everbody else? if you can that would be a good thing. Also can you get better pics of the tail.Istill think it's bacterial and antibiotics would work best but if you get better pics lupin will know better!!

Imeant a different tank maybe a 40 gal tank. And i would get penicillin or ampicillin with Melefix.Hope lupin jumps in here but i think this would def help.If you treat a big tank it will cost a fortune!!!

What antibiotics do you have? Try dabbing the wound with iodine solution for now. If you need to try hydrogen peroxide, swab the wound with it only ONCE as HP removes the healing tissues.

Uhhh i didnt find any penicillin or amipicillin anywhere but i did add melafix. Should i catch him though? I dont want to damage the tail the bones are broken in the tail already.

I have no antibiotics at all. All i have is melafix, methylene blue and rid ich on hand but i can go get some. Antibiotics like at the lfs? Do u mean iodine in like microscope iodine stuff like in class? If i attempt to dab the wound that would require me catching him and im afraid the net will further damage his tail.

Here are some new pics of the progression of the wound or watever it is....the red part hasnt spread but u can see the whitening of the tail toward the rear of it
