Phil, what exactly do you do?

I'm an electromechanical engineer. I work on radiologically-sourced high-speed scanning systems used in large-scale manufacturing (petro-chemical, chemical, paper, plastics, metals, etc.). Same electronics as I worked on in missile guidance and radar systems. Only the pay is better then in the military, I don't have to run 12 miles a frickin week anymore, I don't get shot at, am home every evening, get overtime pay, and I can afford to build up my hatchery without the fear of receiving unexpected deployment orders.

Oh, forgot to mention that I also receive a pension check every month for my 20+ years in the service. That doesn't suck either.

We should all be so intelligent. Glad I'm not in your situation. I wouldn't want to deal with all the paperwork of having so much money. LOL

You swap out PCB's too... ;) jk's

When something "breaks" do you fault find to component level or board level? do you design as well as repair?

I have to get a diploma in electronic/electrical engineering to get the job i want or to move up pay levels..... and they only go to board level :screwy: doesn't make sense... after the first month in the course i could do the job.

Sorry about your tank mate, glad your ok. :)

Wow...that would have to be everyones nightmare...

Could it have been the height of the tank? That is a high tank for only 1/2 inch.

I'm certified in micro-miniature repair. But, for field-level contracts (like my current contract), repairs are to the module level. The high speed scanners have alot of proprietary hardware that my company doesn't want known. T/S is to whatever sealed module has a bad output. Pretty simple for T/S and the company makes a bundle replacing whole modules instead of replacing a bad internal component.

This is like a nightmare to me.. thank god you were not hurt and did not have much damage and also thank goodness you did not have it all set up with fish..
