soooo excited

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You will be fine with a mixed group of pygos. Pirayas do get bigger than caribe but almost double is pushing it. Max size of Pirayas is 20 inches and Caribe is 15 inch but good luck getting them that big in capitivity. What floor do you plan on putting that 300 in? If your buying new let me know.

A good setup, can't denied it but can't advice Tony to try that kind of stock. The caribas are good and the mala is also good but keeping them together aint good at all man. It doesnt matter if it has worked for that guy so far, that combination is a time bomb...

Cheers.

not advicing Tony to try the same stocking list, of course. just as a reference to show how a 300g with 8 adult caribes look like and seems there are plenty of space in there for a dozen if not more.

Yeah, man I know youren't advising him to do that but lets make clear that it is not advisable to try such a stocking otherwise he might fall in that wrong idea....

sure, but I know Tony baby all his piranhas so we don't have to worry about that

that was a cool video of the caribe, i liked the caribes in it.very BIG gives me some ideas.

i plan on putting the tank on the first floor wich is at ground level. there will be a cement floor underneath it. i am planning on buying new. but still shopping for prices. ive looked at glasscages.com but looking for more options. nobodys said anything about filtration yet. and how big can i get a piraya in a 300? my w/c schedule will be twice a week.

If you are setting the tank upstairs just be sure the floor wont collapse man, it might be made of cement but your whole setup is going to be close to one and a half ton....

Buying new sounds good but if I were you I would look into the DIY plywood project. You might find that some of them are very interesting, nice and much less expensive.

Cheers.

haha yes i do baby them

its deff not going on the second floor, im not putting my 125 up there either, just dont wanna risk it. as for a plywood build. the thought had crossed my mind but i dont want to worry about it leaking so im just going to build the stand so i can save money that way. any other good websites besides glasscages?

Tony, check out DAS, they have some kick ass aquariums.

Personally I would probably go with a 3D aquarium http://www.petstorefixtures.com/3DShow.html
You saw the pic of my 180g right? I believe it's from DAS, they have 380g, 96"x48"x32"
it comes with overflow and wet/dry built to the back and the back and bottom are black (not glass but some type of commercial grade plastic material). my 180g has 0.5" thick glass and the seals are very beefy.
One thing is I don't believe they sell to individuals, perhaps you can ask your lfs to order one for you.
as for filter, you can use sump/wet/dry, or multiple canisters or a large pool filter.

I see there is a prob of interpretation here.

In my country when refering to the first floor it is upstairs what you are always talking about.

Cheers.
