i know u do im just saying these fish are 3 foot long and 2 foot plus deep and almost a foot thick the dimensions of a 300 just doest seem like it could do the job

it wasnt a personal jab at u everyone say 300 gal minimum

500gal would be better...but all these pacus that go back are doomed... 300gal would be fine for a pacu for many many years... mine lived 8 years...if he cannot do a 300gal then he has no choice but to bring it back.. but 300gal one pacu would live pretty good..
 
I stupidly bought a red bellied pacu at petsmart at ~ 2 - 3 inches. I found MFK after doing my research and took him back 4 days later before I got attached. I'd take him back if I were you. 300 gallons really isn't that big for a fish like that.

It is a bit deceiving for petsmart to say that '30+ gallons' is ok for one. When I took mine back the lady said that was the starting size(for the tank) for them. If only they'd print that important little part too. Whats the difference between flat out lying and withholding important information that would effect your decision? Nothing.

i wish they would totally ban pacus for sale... just a sad situation all the way around.. for the fish and the fishkeeper... it is so wrong..

so true (funny) i was bashed for putting a juvenile frontosa in a 75. not everyone keeps a fish until it dies of natural causes. my LFS gives top trade in for fish. i say keep the pacu for a year and then trade it in. at least enjoy the fish for awhile
 
Eww I wouldn't pay for a pacu trade-in. If it gets too big, eat it. Seriously.

As I have said many times, the aquarium hobby is about stuffing fish into little boxes a fraction the size of their natural habitat for our own selffish amusement. It's just a matter of what's too "cruel", which is determined by the person/culture.
