I have never had a need for dither fish with any of my severums. Although one group of growouts did get a little more active when I added some corydora to their tank.

Here is my 180 with a few of my severums and friends. My channel has a few of my other South American fish on it as well.

Very nice tank. Interesting looking mix of fish. I don't recognise the biggest fish.
 
In my experience T-bars can be quite aggressive, especially if they're the dominant in the tank or breeding. They're very active and love to chase other fish. They'll also breed with anything, similar to convicts, that's when they can get really nasty. That being said if you avoid stocking any other CA, I think it might work. I'd definitely keep an eye on the Sajica though.
