South American tankmate suggestions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I searched every local fish store and several not so local ones and have yet to find any hoplosternum cats. I was at Petco the other day, and they had a sale on black skirt tetras so I introduced five more. It still feels sort of empty and my green terror is still rather shy, but I have to admit, it does add more activity to the tank.

Get more of the tetras so you can have a decent sized school.
Nice tank btw.

I wouldn't add any more cichlids.
A 75 won't allow enough space for territorial disputes to end peacefully.
Hoplo catfish would be a good addition. They do best in small groups.
I agree. Nice gt though. I would probably slim down to the two rafaels for the bottom and remove the other fish. If you want just one more fish, a good top water fish like a pink tailed chalceus will look good and be robust and active enough to survive the GT.

They appear to be too skittish and finicky. Not really what I'm going for

I have kept pink chalceus in the past(in a group)
Not skittish at all.

Manlyfish, why come on a forum and ask for advice if you already have the answers. I don't mean to be rude but you have given a few suggestions the knock back.If you already have the knowledge, why ask?

Never have I implied that I have all the knowledge. As previously stated, I am asking for suggestions. I took the suggestion seriously and looked up the fish. I don't feel comfortable keeping a schooling fish by itself. Why ask? Because I like suggestions. I am free to not pursue every suggestion.

Love the tank. You should paint the back or get a black background to make those colors pop!
