You'll be looking at a tank with dimensions of at least 8x3'. I would recommend going with at least 30" of tank height. You can go with some geophagus they will keep the bottom clean. Also there are lots of different types of plecos you can look into.

My tank is pretty much SA themed, though the eel is from asia.

Alright, 8' x 3' x 2.5' it is for the dimensions. The geophagus sound pretty interesting; how many do you think I should have in there? I don't know about the plecos; I planned on using pond liner on the inside of the aquarium, and I've heard that they can eventually rasp through the liner. The plan is to have basically a pond/aquarium hybrid with a large viewing window on one of the larger sides of the aquarium.

Any ideas on specific catfish? I would prefer to avoid the giant ones such as tiger shovelnose catfish and redtail catfish.
