I was catching fish to take to new home and disrupted the nest site and the female ate the eggs...not very smart but now the breeding pair are alone in tank to themselves and will not be bothered. Also I'm buying a 110 or 125 gallon tank off a guy it's 72 x 20x 19, which seems like a 125 to me but weird measurement. He wants 250$ Canadian obviously is this good price for tank only?

the tank price is relative to your area really, but i would possibly check kijiji or other sites. i got my 125 for 150$ with stand. though i do regularly see tanks on kijiji for ungodly amounts i would never pay. i would also check stores around the area, sometimes they do have sales on. big al's in ontario sometimes will have brand new tanks like that for around that price, or less, depending on the time of year/sale.

i have to say, i'm really intrigued by the coloration of the hybrids, they look really nice to me. tempted to get some from you!

Anybody have an idea of how big this male could get? My male red Ceibal is 6 inches or little more while my female convict is only four and has been for years? Will hybrid vigor effect him? Also worried about the safety of my female as he grows, after all she's the boss.

I'd imagine they would get 5-6"...but since this cross has never been done we really have no idea. I'm surpassed I've never heard of a Red Ceibal before, and that cross certainly is very pretty looking.

Is it bad that I want one now? lol

Thanks for responses. I have five left but have never shipped fish before so it may be a bad thing aha. They really are a nice looking cross. The pictures do not do them justice. When I go into the room in the morning this male has oranges with same intensity to that of female festae. Awesome looking like a tiger.

plus if your pair breeds again, like they most likely will, you'd have more chances to ship. out of curiosity, what were you asking per hybrid? can PM me if you'd rather not post it in the thread.

I was giving them out free because here in newfoundland well in areas of the avalon closest to me, fish keeping is usually just someone with a tank filling it with fish that can eat other fish..not much science or passion aha. I still advertised them as a cross that wasn't likely to happen and gave bit of information on where parents originate from, as well As a 30 gallon + warning, but in the end I needed new homes quick so this was only way. I don't know what the shipping cost would be but I guess if I was to send them that would be the amount I'd want to be covered I guess. You can pm of you like.

....not ragging on nl fish keepers, lots of people here who know way more then me, but I know at least six right now in this area who I'd never want to give my fish too aha.
