Sp faranah

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Personally I consider these "sp. Faranah" a Faranah lap. Including Troy1015 Troy1015 and J jaws7777 bichirs. But that's my opinion. Doesn't look different enough for me to consider it something else.

Oooh I wasn't aware that they were different - my bad. Could u let me know what the difference between an sp and a faranah lap are? cheers!
Here is my theory, faranah lap have their horizontal marking from head to almost 1/4 of their body like head to the shoulder or fins, while a sp. faranah have their vertical marking from tail all the way toward the head, the only horizontal marking sp. have is very little.

I marked the marking in red so you can see it.

No need to take anthing to pm, we're adults let's not make this more dramatic than it is . Teo guys are disagreeing and get testy no big deal

Post pics later but I don't agree with Hao Hao in sp.vs faranah lap. Not saying mine is or isnt but based off of older descriptions/threadd and what my eyes see.

Will post pics later kids are all over the place like roaches

I don't pretend to be a so called poly expert, I think it's funny because how can anyone be an expert on something that's been studied so little. But I don't believe this is a faranah lap.

Not Soo much the colors but the patterns.
Now check out this thread.

Anyone think the above pics aren't almost identical patterns (minus the flash and camera differences) to these.

Best part is the pics from the dabola thread aren't what is known as sp.dabola today.

Make matters worse from my understanding sp.dabola aren't even collected dabola but in faranah so why couldnt the Polys we are calling sp.faranah actually be sp.faranah ? Marketing ? Who knows
All of this just proves how confusing the subject is.

Imo faranah laps have multiple verticle lines and banding thats more broken up. Where as the sp.faranah or whatever it is does not. Head shape is different too but not sure there's enough there to use that as part of the argument either way.

Now some will say "small differences in appearence means nothing" but i dont buy that. Small differences are what seperates Nigerian laps and faranah laps or koliba and koloton. Infact one of the characteristics in koliba/koloton are messy patterns vs organized. Not a huge difference but a difference none the less. Thick bands and head markings/shape = black volta endli, flat head and thinner bands = guinean endli. Again small differences.

Faranah lap on the lower left. Mystery on the upper right.

I'm no expert but from reading older threads and discussing the subject on FB with king El I do believe there's a difference.

Candy bar could very well be a faranah lap, i don't think she is but to be fair why not. All of these guinean Polys share the same bodies of water. It's not to far of a stretch to think they are all identified.

Infact all sp means is undescribed right so why doesnt sp.koloton or koliba start such a debate lol even though they are thought to be laps.

There's older posts and what not talking about differences but 1; those people are not active and can't confirm or deny their intensions and 2; who gives a crap right use our own eyes and decide.
