Here are some older pic of Ricky's fish. The pattern reminds me a lot of my old sp. Dabola. except much smaller in size

As for your fish, J jaws7777 I think your fish the stripes is more connected similar to this Guinean lap. That's why I don't think Ricky's fish and your fish looks the same.

Idk Hao Hao I don't believe the two dabola look alike (yours and Ricky's) infact the heads shapes look nothing alike, to me that is

I kind of see the opposite. In the pics you posted of Ricky's fish it's head looks like mine especially the 5th pic.

As for mine if it were a cb Nigerian lap I would take it over every sp.dabola I've sceen in this thread lol as long as it has black slight green unbroken band with a long verticle line and a brownish golden base.

To be fair though you could absolutely be right. When asked what it is I almost always say some say sp.faranah and some say faranah lap.

Oh. I was not comparing head shape at all in that post. Head shape can be a bit complicated with these fish especially when head could look very different depending on the angle of the shot. Besides, a lot of lower jaws tend to share similar head shapes when they are under 20". They start to have that distinct look at 20"+ which makes them way easier to identify IMO. I was just posting those pics so you could see where I'm coming from when I was judging from the pattern.

Just a random photo of a small sp.Dabola from someone in Korea. Probably 12"-14"?

I get ya bro. Some of these Polys are like fine art. We all see something different

Don't take this the wrong way but this is what I don't get it's always something that sways the discussion. Headshape doesn't matter until they are 20 inches but you said yours was much bigger in the post. But that they look alike what is it that you see make them resemble each other. Because patterns don't (to me) infact I think the patterns resembles more of what we are saying is sp.faranah

If these 3 don't look the same then I'm a monekys uncle

Last thing I'm gonna add.

Since this sp. F Vs F lap debate started it's almost as if there's this thought that one is better than the other if they are infact different fish. I disagree with that thought... They are just different in small ways doesn't mean one is better than the other.

DMD123 DMD123 f lap is a stunner. As well as many of the other ones on the site.

Alexkoj Alexkoj poly will also be a stunner no doubt

They all look similar to me

Keep in mind the fish your debating toyin id to me as Farahna Lap when I was trying to order Sp Dabola recently.

Either way J jaws7777 send me it so I can examine it in person for a few years so I can give a beyyer more qualified opinion.

And like my Japanese friend said this is what makes poly keeping so fun. Then told me I just confused him lol.

He also said faranah lap and what we call sp.dabola are the same exact poly.
Verbatim.

Which is why I say unless you imported them it's a guess and at the mercy of what we are told.
