my idea is a canopy with just the sides, but they slant like skateboard ramps, so the jumping fish rolls back into the tank.

Good idea, I would use that concept to keep the aro from getting behind the tank.

I will say though, that has to be the goofiest looking fish I ever seen:ROFL:

I think a good size arow could clean that like nothing to be honest... Have you watched vids of those things in the amazon, taking small monkeys off branches 12 ft in the air...

No, but you have to put some video links on here.

remember, mine only jumped because it was feeding time and it got excited. so of course i was there. but when im not there, there's no need/reason for them to be jumping and even if they did, they'd land head first against a 100lb lexan hood. but im gonna re-enforce it even more today. i seriously dont wanna lose one as every time i open my garage im preying to see 3 aros in the main tank

you could have netting going to to the roof so if he jumps he just slides back in and does not hit its head

Ive read somewhere about a "jump kit" or something for arowanas and other jumpers. from what i understand its an acrylic enlcosure placed over the top of the tank raised up high enough to where they have plenty of room to jump.
the picture in my head shows an upside down tank over an existing tank??? lol

I used to have netting inside the lids, and it worked great, the one time I lost an Aro during the night happened to be when I was soaking the net in vinegar to remove dyes. My old Gu Kaan would wait until feeding time and ambush me when I opened the lids. My hands were busy once so I bend my forehead over to block his jump and he left a bruise on my forehead from hitting me so hard with his head. That's when you guys told me to slap my fish. I did. It worked, after a few slaps!
I think it's a great idea here, I always thought of a bubble like top to give Aro's room to jump a foot or two like what's natural, it would be awesome to watch them feed on insects and roll and boil at the top.

if you keep your water level up as high as possable and dont hand feed you will cut down on the risks of jumping

silver and black aros seam to be more jumpy than asian or jardini aros
