now if it came in black...sigh

Oh that would be awesome... 24 bucks for the Tahitian moon sand is crazy. (And yet I have it in one of my tanks.)

So I got a bag like this: http://www.u-s-silica.com/images/silbag-gd.jpg

It has big writing on it that it is pool filter sand. The only real difference between the play sand and the pool filter sand is that the smaller grains have been filtered out.

(Heh I never thought I would be postings shots where the reason was to look at the sand.)

Anyways... my pool filter sand:

My cruddy play sand... yah I still am using it... (2 replacements of the rotor rod later...)

So via camera they look the same... Give me a few minutes and I will put some sands together and get a close shot for you.

Oh and I have a vid that I am compiling... no criticism about my commentary allowed...

Play sand (left)..........................................................Pool Filter sand (right)

Ok so took longer then I expected...(But I did have to shrink the vid, then upload it of course after taking it.)

So here it is... Notice I forgot to point out the cloud of stuff that just flows in the play sand, while the pool filter sand doesn't. When I fish flicks in the sand that is what gets into the filters.

Also believe it or not almost all the clothes you see is in fact clean... I did laundry yesterday and was to lazy to put it away so I stuck in on my couch... making it prime space for my dog to play in...

One more photo... this is what play sand can do to filters...

I bought pool filter sand and got mad b/c it was grayish/blackish/greenish. I got it from lowes. So if you want a dark colored sand, maybe try there. But there's are 25lb bags not 50. I couldnt find the 50 ones and I couldnt find any in tan/brown color.
