i got pool filter sand in my tanks. i say its the way to go. not too dark or too light. i got it at leslies pool supplies for about $5 per 50lb bag. i forgot the grade though. i have a friend with a 240 colony of brundi fronts and was amazed with the look. so i switched over to filter sand from rocks/gravel.
