Spectacled Caiman in New York

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would say don't do it just because of the time factor. I'm going to school for medicine actually double majoring in neurobiology and genetics and bioengineering and I couldn't imagine having the time to just do maintanice. I mean I really don't know much about nursing school but I do know that keeping a 3.8 GPA minimum along with all your clinical time and volunteer hours that you will prob have to do make it hard for a time consuming hobby. Idk to me my professional career comes before ANYTHING else, trust me after being at school and studying for 16-18hrs a day 5days a week the last thing your going to want to do is clean a massive cage. So focus on school first so in a few yrs your making big money and can do whatever u want

wait. you're 19 and just started college?

What's your point? I was 22 when I went to college. This is MONSTER FISH KEEPERS, not CRITIQUE THE OP'S ACADEMIC DECISIONS. Can we stick to animals?

I'd listen to the posters with greenhouse experience, an uninsulated structure that size will not simply stay warm on it's own in winter, especially at the tropical temps needed by many reptiles.

Your gonna luv this idea. Move south one state :D

I mentioned that earlier. Sounds like a good idea for me too. I'm sure NY would still find a way to harass me about my reptiles anyway, through the mail or something. They just like to be a giant pain in the ass.

New york in general is one big suckfest.

Took the words right out of my mouth. I gotta go all the way to PA to get any decent turtles, and any if I want them under 4 inches.

i know how you feel, i would kill for a burmese python, and i have the experience, knowledge, and means to care for one. yet my parents are saying "no, wait until you have your own place, then you can have all the pythons you want".. it wouldn't be their problem, i would do everything, and the enclosure would be in my room, and honestly, something like a snake can be very easily packed up and move with you. and this, my friends, is why i hate adults that treat younger people like crap, you'd think they'd learn from how it was when they were kids and be more considerate, but no, it seems that the past generation was raised to be (for the most part) a bunch of selfish, inconsiderate _______ <--just use your imagination to fill in the blank...

Your parents are self centered for not letting you have a giant snake in your room? Unless YOU pay the mortgage, utilities, etc, it is THEIR home as well. Your room is not some holy place that only you can access. One should be grateful that your parents are considerate and financially sound enough to let you have your own room, internet etc.

I think your missing the point in his statement. Its not HIS house therefore he shouldnt get all upset if the people who own it don't want a bunch of snakes in THEIR home

No i got the point perfectly. I would say that A. gigas' house is more his than ecoli73's. Unless ecoli73 is A. gigas' parent, then they have no right to tell him what he should think of his room. Period.
