I’ve recently started walking again, past two nights I’ve walked 5 miles each time and I’m starting to make it a habit.

I’m 5’5” weighing 218 and trying to drop down to 170 at the moment. I haven’t been 170 since middle school :thumbsdow

I think my body is in the process of dying right now as I just finished a mile in less time than ever before. My previous best was 16:15:63 and now it’s 14:50:90. I jogged most of the way this time.

Good for you pal, you realise you need to get in shape and lose weight and you're doing something about it. Once you start getting into timing yourself it can become a bit addictive because you want to constantly shave more and more time off your personal best. It hurts, it hurts like hell at times, but the old adage is very true, no pain no gain. And the results on your body and just general personal well being are immense.

Did you go to the docs before starting your new fitness regime. It's wise to have a check up, just to check there's no underlying health issues.

For the last mile my calves were hurting the entire mile, my shins were hurting halfway through it and the sides of my salves and my feet were hurting 3/4 of the way through it. I hate running but at the moment it’s all I am willing to do.

Nope, I just started walking 3 miles a night and bumped it up to 5 miles 5 days a week about a week after starting. I started on the 7th or so. I’m 19, I doubt I have any health issues and quite frankly I care very little. All I want is to go from 218 to 170 and then see how I look and maybe drop more from there.

Down to 214

That's great. Keep up the good work.

Have you changed your diet round too as part of your overall plan and are you throwing in a couple of rest days too? Do too much and you're asking for injuries.

I haven’t changed what I eat, I just change the quantity of what I eat. Before I would eat out of boredom but now I have the “MyFitnessPal” app where I can track all the stuff I eat and it even keeps track of how many calories I burn by walking. I’m still doing my 5 miles a night except on Wednesday and Saturday and I’m addition to my goal of losing 2 pounds a week set on the app I’m losing weight rather fast. It’s set me at 1,500 calories a day and I’m not hungry at all after hitting my limit, I could honestly go down to 1,000 calories a day I think and still be good but I’ll be staying at 1.5k calories a day for a steady weight loss.

I highly recommend the app, it’s awesome. Also free.

This time next year you'll be buff and slim, like me! And you'll be fighting the ladies off, though, unlike you, i'm married, so I have to shoo them away. It just goes with the territory of being an adonis. :liar:
