First and foremost, I can't believe that mfk doesn't have a nutrition section. Considering its just as important as having the setup/filtration or does this fall into health?
Anywho, I was near a tractor supply store and found Sportsman's Choice floating catfish food 40lbs for $18. I was wondering if anyone had any feedback on this stuff? My first feeding I've seen the oscars and pacu eat it. My redtail hasn't gone for it yet. So i'll feed them exclusively this and see. I don't think I went wrong with it.

Can you take a picture of the ingredients listing?

RD. RD. will be here with comment before long, he seems to be the resident nutrition guy... but nutrition is hidden in healthcare and disease section.

Never heard of the stuff but it might be yet another reason to find and visit the nearest Tractor Supply.Someone already told me that TS carries a pretty good quality brand of dog food.

Nothing extra special that pet supplies plus doesn't have, but they have bucket heaters that I would like to plug into temp controllers. TCS is worth a drive.

It occurs to me that I was wrong about TS as I thought they strictIy dealt in items relating to their name....I might check one out tomorrow

Tractor Supply is always worth a wander... I used to live around the corner from one, and they have a lot of the same product lines as any hardware store, but with varied selection and frequently items that you might find yourself cussing Lowes for not stocking... Now I live around the corner from Lowes, and I find myself forgetting about the ol' Tractor Supply, now 2 miles away, lol...

Be careful with those trough heaters, I have seen them short out before... used to work in plumbing wholesale and carried Ritchie livestock waterers, and for some time they were both carrying the same heaters. We had plenty of returns, many looking like they could have toasted a cow by the tongue...

This is what I found simply typing in the description on the bag.

Listed in order:

Processed grain by-products
grain products
plant protein products
animal protein products
roughage products
animal fat (preserved with BHA)
calcium carbonate
natural chicken flavoring

ascorbic acid, vitamin A supplement, vitamin D supplement, vitamin E supplement, vitamin B12 supplement, riboflavin supplement, niacin supplement, d-Calcium pantothenate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, folic acid, menadione dimethylpyrimidinol bisulfite (source of vitamin K activity), thiamine mononitrate, biotin, choline chloride, salt, manganous oxide, manganese sulfate, ferrous sulfate, copper chloride, copper sulfacte, zinc oxide, zinc sulfate, potassium chloride, iron oxide, ethylenediamine dihydroiodide, sodium selenite, zinc, amino acid complex, manganese amino acid complex, iron amino acid complex, mineral oil, and propionic acid (a perservative).

Crude Protein 32.0% -
Crude Fat 2.5% -
Crude Fiber - 7.5%

Vitamin D 204 IU/LB -
Vitamin E 30 IU/LB -
Vitamin B6 1.2 MG/LB -
Ascorbic Acid (Vit. C) 20 MG/LB -

This has grain by-products and grain products as the first 2 ingredients, while the 3rd (although not specified) is potentially yeast to produce the "protein", the 4th is potentially animal waste products, the 5th could be cardboard or paper, and the 6th is animal fat.

It's a basic catfish farm formula. Just saw the above 32% protein is standard, 37% is high.
