Hello, I recently noticed my Geo Surinamensis has what looks to be spots on the inside of the fish. When insider the light at certain angles it is much easier to see. I was curious if anyone could help identify what this could be and a way to treat it? Here are a few pictures to easier explain:

I have never seen it but looks like what is described as black spot disease. Its caused by a larval stage of a parasite that is typically passed on to or from birds....I cant remember. Maybe one of the other guys called on above will say for sure.

Seen something a few years ago on a similar fish from a member here, believe it was a bulkhead catfish. Suspected parasite/nematode egg in the fish’s body. Not sure what was the outcome of th fish. Think then it was suggested and i suggest now too....was several rounds(3) of levamisole. Can u get a real close of the spots? Hope it gets better.

Regarding the spots, this may be what your fish has.

The white lump at the base of the tail fin appears to possibly be lymphocystis. http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/fa181

Agree with RD about the tail spot.

Thanks for the advice everyone.. I think I’ll remove the two Geo Surinamensis from the tank and into a 30g I can setup quickly to see how it plays out. They’ve been with the other fish for well over a month but I can’t see signs of anything on the other fish. They were recently moved into the 75g which could be the stressor.
